I run a small business that is growing fast. To be honest, it’s growing so fast that it’s hard to keep a grip on it. Like a wild beast that I can’t keep up with. The details of said business aren’t important but it is important to know that 90% of my daily tasks are built around the telephone.
From 8am to 8pm, and onwards, the phone doesn’t stop ringing. No such thing as a set lunch hour because the phone just doesn’t stop. We have to have multiple people in the office at all times so that someone is there to answer it when it rings. As the building grows, the phone-calls increase. It’s not uncommon to see my staff holding both a cellphone and a telephone handset against each ear trying to manage both calls.
As you can imagine, we’re hiring staff at a rapid rate to keep up with the workflow and now we’re starting to see problems. Not just the usual problems that come with the nightmare of managing staff, but with the phone lines itself.
When we were a smaller outfit we didn’t notice the problem. But now we’re having more and more phone lines cut out on us mid-call and bad, crackly reception when they don’t cut out. We’ve even had a client stop using us because of this issue.
The problem is that the phone lines and general wiring in the office is old and outdated. It just can’t handle the influx of calls that we require it too and it needs replacing. When getting it checked out, we were told that the alarm system and CCTV weren’t working optimally and that the wiring would have to be completely stripped and replaced. That’s a fire hazard. We could easily be shut down for something like that.
We’re having the full replacements/repairs done next week by a Tulsa electrical company called TL Davis Electrical Design. We called them up and got a very cheap quote for the whole job. I’ve previously used them for some medium-scale work on my residential home so I knew that they were the best electricians Tusla had to offer.
